App passwords
Where to generate an app-specific password for each provider.
Most providers require an app-specific password instead of your login password for mailbox access:
- Google/Gmail — myaccount.google.com/apppasswords (requires 2-Step Verification)
- Microsoft — account security settings → app passwords (basic-auth IMAP is disabled for most consumer accounts; prefer the Microsoft connect flow)
- iCloud — appleid.apple.com → App-Specific Passwords
- Yahoo — Account Security → Generate app password
- Zoho — enable IMAP Access in Mail settings first, then generate an app password
- Fastmail — Settings → Password & Security → App passwords
App passwords are stored encrypted in EverDrive's credential vault and are never displayed again after connecting.
